Want more dedicated time to work on YOUR projects?

We’re adding a 4th weekly co-working session to the calendar to kick of the new year.

For those of you not familiar with co-working, it is also known as body doubling in behavioral science/ADHD worlds. It means you show up and work on a project of your choice for the allotted time. Other people work on their own projects. Think of it as a virtual study date, but you choose the homework.

Co-working provides

  • External accountability
  • Lets you tell your family/friends you “Have a meeting.”
  • Structure for amorphous projects that don’t have looming deadlines

In our Zoom co-working sessions we chat for the first 15 minutes, work for 45. Chat for 15 & work again.  If you need to leave early or come late that’s fine too.  If people are working just mute yourself and work on whatever you want until the next chat period.

Sessions run :

Mondays 10 a.m. – noon CST

Mondays 4 p.m. – 6 p.m. CST*

Wednesdays 8 p.m. – 10 p.m. CST

Fridays 10 a.m. – noon  CST

Choose whichever session works best for you.

If you’d like to try a sample session message for the Zoom link. (Be sure to add thecreativeapp [at] to your contacts and/or check your spam folder responses.)

If you’d like to attend more than one session the cost is $5/month and paid via Patreon.

Thanks to Shelly Walston for agreeing to head the Monday evening sessions! Jessica will continue to facilitate the other sessions.

  • Hi.
This looks intriguing, however I’m not sure exactly how this works. When we’re ‘chatting’ for 15 min. and then going to work, what are we chatting about? Do you help with plotting, character development, something else? Also, how many people are doing this together, or are we co-working with one person? Are there opportunities to write for magazines or professional outlets and is this explored?

    • Hi Jennifer,

We chat about whatever we want. Sometimes we talk about our work, but we talk about our pets, movies, books, our lives. Anything at all.

This is not a coaching session, it’s a work session designed to build creative community & your support system. So, no our coaches are not helping with plotting, character development, etc–that is the type of thing we do in one-on-one coaching sessions. Our coaches work alongside the other attendees, and everyone is working on their own projects during the work sessions.

The number of attendees depends on the days. Sometimes it may be just one person, but 3-5 is normal. We’ve had up to 8? at a time. People attend based upon their availability & personal schedules so the Monday afternoon group often has different attendees than the Wednesday evening group.

No. There are not opportunities to write from the co-working sessions. But, the group would certainly encourage you to submit to publications of your choice and let you know about their personal experiences/submissions tips & tricks during the chat sessions.

Thanks for the questions, and we hope to see you at a session.
